|Tee-ball orientation is Tuesday, May 1|
Registration for this year’s tee-ball season has closed and the six dozen 5- and 6-year-olds who have been registered are now being assigned to teams.
Whenever feasible, the recreation department will do its best to ensure parents’ requests to have their youngsters placed with a particular coach and/or player are honored; however parents are reminded that not all requests can be guaranteed.
On a related note, there will be a voluntary, tee-ball orientation night Tuesday, May 1 from 5 - 6pm at the Pagosa Springs Elementary School soccer fields. Parents and coaches will be reminded by recreation department staff prior to the orientation.
As soon as teams are finalized, coaches will be contacted with roster information. Games will be scheduled for Mondays and Wednesdays and will begin May 7, weather permitting. Game schedules will be available at the recreation office Monday afternoon and will also be available for download through the recreation department link at the Town website.
For more information regarding this year’s tee-ball season, call the recreation office at 264-4151 Ext. 231 or 232.
To assist with travel expenses for Pagosa Springs’ Destination Imagination teams, there will be a fund-raising kickball tournament Saturday, May 12 at the high school ballfield complex. Games will begin at 8am.
Age brackets are 7-9, 10-12, 13-15 and 16 and up. The entry is $10 per person. Bring a team or sign up individually and teams will be formed. As mentioned, proceeds will go toward “The Pagosa D.I. Nerds’” travel expenses to global competition in Knoxville, Tenn.
For more information, contact Matt Bowdridge at 903-8663 or Cheryl Bowdridge at 903-9147.
Registration for this year’s youth baseball leagues will run through Friday, May 4.
The recreation office is accepting registrations for coach-pitch division (ages 6, 7 and 8), and the 9- and 10-year-old division. The office is also accepting registrations for the 11-12 division, but if the number of registrations submitted is not sufficient to support a league in this age bracket, registration fees may be refunded and formal league play may be canceled.
Registrations are available at the recreation office in Town Hall and are also available for download through the recreation department link at the Town website. Registrations will be disbursed to local schools, as well. All registrations should be submitted to the recreation office.
Cost to participate in the program is $30 per player and $15 for each additional child in the same family who participates. Team coaches and sponsors are needed and appreciated.
The season is tentatively scheduled to begin in late May and should run through early July; for more information, call the recreation office at 264-4151 Ext. 231 or 232.
